F.A.Q.

As the Wetland Discovery Centre will be closed for several months, we have prepared this information sheet to help answer any questions you may have.

1. Why is the Centre closed?

After 30 years in operation, the Wetland Discovery Centre is temporarily closed, since November 2023, for much needed renovations.

2. Are the trails still open?

The trails remain open year-round as they are part of the Wildlife Management Area.

3. Are there any public programs available?

Programming continues to be offered onsite and in our new building, the Willow Retreat, located in the south end of the parking lot as well as virtually.  Snowshoes, bicycle and canoe rentals will also be available on certain days. Any programming and events will be advertised on our website.

4. Are there washrooms available to use?

During specific events, the washrooms at the Willow Retreat will be available to use. Otherwise, there are some clean outhouses on the trail at the Main mound.

5. Can we still book school programs?

School programs are still available but will be limited to two classes per day (plus virtual or in classroom programs). Please contact our Bookings Coordinator to reserve your programs. Veuillez contacter Lorène pour L’Écobus du marais.

6. What happens with my membership?

Your membership will be valid for the entire time of the closure as well as for the remaining portion of your membership after we reopen. For example, if you had four months left on your annual membership when we close on November 1, 2023, your membership will remain valid during the closure and we will add those four months after our grand reopening.

7. Can we still have a birthday party or a meeting at the Centre?

Unfortunately not at this time.

8. Are the café and gift shop closed also during the renovation?

The café and the gift shop are both closed during the renovation, but some giftshop items are be available via out online shop. Check it out!

9. Where can we get updates to see how the renovation is progressing?

We are keeping visitors up to date with a monthly blog, including pictures and renovation updates, on our website and via our monthly newsletter.
