Meet the Ducks Unlimited Scientists

Let’s celebrate the importance of wetlands. Meet the biologists from Ducks Unlimited Canada and learn about their fascinating research.

Matt Dyson, Ph.D.

Matt Dyson: Evaluating the behavioural and demographic responses of waterfowl to landscape change to improve conservation delivery. Visit Matt in the Lab from 11 a.m.  to 3 p.m.

Pascal Badiou: Conducting watershed research to help create and inform sound, sustainable wetland policies that protect our water and offset the impacts of climate change. Visit Pascal on the rooftop from 11 a.m.  to 3 p.m.

Paige Kowal, M.Sc.

Paige Kowal: Supporting quantification of wetland and grassland ecosystem services, and identifying priority areas for habitat conservation. Paige will do water sampling/water quality talk and hands-on demonstrations by the canoe ramp at 1 p.m. and 2 p.m.

Brandon Edwards, Ph.D.

Brandon Edwards:  Designing, analyzing, and sharing research results. Brandon will demonstrate the concepts of mark-recapture for waterfowl banding and population estimates in the Wetland Discovery Centre at 1 p.m. and 2 p.m.
