Volunteers are an essential part of non-profit organization! Without volunteers, we could not continue to work towards our mission – to connect people with wetlands!
Volunteering for the Discovery Centre is a fun way to learn about wetlands and wildlife, help teach others about these important habitats, and work in a world-class nature facility!
Volunteer opportunities best suited for 15 years old and older.
A commitment of 20 hours per year is expected to be on our volunteer roster with exception of trail maintenance.

Exhibit Host
Be an ambassador for visitors in our Wetland Discovery Centre. Answer questions, provide directions, check wristbands, tidy up and clean exhibits.
Face/hand painting
Do you have an artistic flair? One of our most popular visitor activities is face and hand painting. A wetland animal or theme is preferred but other images (rainbow, etc.) can be done. All supplies are provided.
Critter Dipping
Help visitors catch aquatic invertebrates on our floating boardwalks in the courtyard. Provide equipment to visitors, net and buckets, show them how to dip for bugs, and assist with bug ID.
Trail Host
Do you like to talk to visitors on our trails and help promote wetlands? Be an ambassador for us while staying active. Reporting trail conditions, special animal or bird sightings would be included.
Trail Maintenance
Walk our trails while picking up litter, pulling noxious weeds, trimming branches and or cleaning trail signs.
Café
Bussing and cleaning tables, delivering food orders, and dishes as part during our regular café hours. Training will be provided by café staff.
Conference Centre
Help serve at our special event and catering functions. Setting up tables, decorating, serving food and nonalcoholic beverages, bussing tables and dishes may be included. Bartending (must have responsible service certification) is also a possibility.
